The 1st stone datacenter Marilyn Marne-la-Vallée is set
The 1st stone green datacenter CELESTE just set in the Cité Descartes. Construction under the watchful eye of local elected officials and business leaders who see the project as a symbol of the “digital revolution”. The new data center will be called Marilyn operational by the end of summer 2011.
“Today we are building green Internet,” says Nicolas Aubé, President Marilyn and CELESTE.
Construction Marilyn began in September, but the first stone was officially laid on 12 October with elected officials and all those who helped launch the project of a new type of data center. Indeed, this data center, which mainly uses ambient air for cooling, fits on a dynamic territory has chosen innovation, Ecology and Very High Speed.
Marilyn is a data center of a new type, very innovative. Its vertical shape allows air circulation easy. The fresh air will be drawn at the basement, refroidira les machines, and will be used to heat offices. Excess air escapes through the roof.
The vertical design of a data center is unique in the world. This is the first time such a project was born, and that has been the subject of a patent.
This center will consume 35% less energy than a traditional center. The energy efficiency of Marilyn or stinks (Power usage effectiveness) is 1,3, PUE is the lowest in the world.
